Week 7 Reflection

2 comments:

  1. This week was my first week of full-time teaching. It was very exciting, but also very nerve racking and stressful. You want everything to go perfectly, but you know it almost never will.
It was an overall good week. My reading lessons became more fluent and I became more comfortable with my mornings (although I still need to work on moving along that morning work which is what they work on until the morning announcements go on). Overall though, it was more comfortable for me. Now having it been my first time teaching math and taking over all the afternoon classes, it was a struggle, but I could quickly recognize what I needed to do to make things better. Like my first time teaching reading, I was over planning and spending too much time talking rather than letting the students practice. I am hoping this week will move much smoother in math as I have successfully made it through one week and now have a feel for how things move and what works and doesn’t work with the students.
It is very true, this whole inquiry learning as a teacher. You are constantly looking at what you are doing and making adjustments and changes as you go to help your students get the best learning experience.

  2. Welcome to the world of teaching. You have captured it quite well. The thing is it doesn't matter if you are in your first year or your 23rd year, you still go through the same thing. It is a challenge, but we are never bored.
